WINTER HAIR CARE

Winter is soon approaching!! Lately, it has not felt that way here in Philadelphia but, it is coming. Every year around this time, I'm hit with the same questions from my clients. "What do I about my dry hair in the winter months?"  The winter months are very tricky lately because we are experiencing a lot of warm weather so, our hair can be thrown off balance. Here are a few tricks to keep your hair hydrated throughout the Winter months:

1. Condition Condition Condition!! I can not express this enough. Conditioner is your friend! I usually recommend a deep moisture keratin treatment every two weeks. What this does is allow moisture to penetrate the follicles and lock moisture into the strands. Using a conditioner with keratin only is a golden bonus. Our hair is already made up of keratin so what this does is it makes our hair strand even stronger and promotes porosity.

2. Avoid Chemicals If your are a Chemical Mommy try to stretch out your relaxers. Chemically treated hair breeds dry  brittle hair. This means color also. Try to avoid getting very light blondes or light colored hair during the winter months. Remember this is the time of year where we wear scarves and hats that are wool or polyester    based. These materials can be very brutal to chemically treated hair.

3.Avoid Products That Contain Drying Agents  Products that contain alcohol perixode and ammonia are no good for your hair in the winter months, Hairsprays and other styling agents that are meant to maintain your hair can do the opposite when it's cold ! It can leave the hair very dry and brittle, try to switch to more healthier products that contain no alcohol and no sulfates.

4. Turn Your Bedroom Into A Tropic Oasis  Dry Heat can also do damage to your hair and skin. Get a humidifier to add moisture in the air. Not only will you feel rejuvenated it will eliminate static to your hair and clothing which also happens to be another winter annoyance.

5. Drink Plenty of Water and Eat Healthy
