How to Keep Your Hair Moisturized This Winter

Winter is approaching slowly but surely. Is your ready for the Winter months? This is the time of the year to pay close attention to your hair. As the weather gets colder, your hair and scalp gets dryer because your sebum glands are not hard at work. Cold air drys the hair and it becomes very dry and brittle if hair is not taken care of properly. Here are a few tips to get you through this winter......
1. Use a moisturizing conditioning mild shampoo. Preferably without any sulfates. Try using shampoos that do not contain any chemical ingredients. These shampoos tend to dry the hair and cause breakage.
2.Air dry hair before blow drying. This allows the hair to keep more of its natural oils and it cuts down on blow drying time.
3.Winter hats can cause damage and breakage.Try to wear a silk or satin scarf under the hat to protect your hair.
4.Get deep conditioners more often. Getting deep moisture conditioners more than twice a month will help the hair stay conditioned and healthier. Massage the scalp with the conditioner, add a little olive oil and  allow it to stay on an extra 5 minutes.
5.Try to avoid color in the winter months. Having pigment removed from the hair is danger enough if not taken care of the right way. Having color in the winter tends to make the hair more harsh and prone to breakage and causes hair to be dry and brittle.
6. Always moisturize the hair and wrap with a satin or silk scarf before going to bed at night.
7. Always eat a well balanced meal, eat your veggies, and drink lots of water to keep the scalp healthy.
